	CONTENT GUIDELINES 1. Subject Matter. All icons uploaded must feature Severus Snape. That's the point of the archive afterall! :) 2. Ratings. Icons may range in rating from G to X, so bear in mind that there will be ADULT CONTENT on these pages. You have been warned. The validation process will ensure that nothing too raunchy makes it through to the public eye, but these will probably only be icons that contain wildly explicit sex, oodles of bodily fluids or gratuitous gore. I'm going to be pretty flexible on this, so try your luck and give me a giggle! 3. Dimensions and File Size. No icons above 100 x 100 pixels will be considered. Most forums, blogsites and message boards use a similar limit - no point in uploading an icon folks won't be able to use, right? Icons really shouldn't be bigger than 100kb, but we will allow an absolute maximum of 150.0 Kb for the more intricate animated icons. LJ has a hard limit of 40kb on the size of icons - if you intend to use an icon on LJ, make sure it is within this limit! 4. Quality. I'm not going to be very strict on this one, since it is all really just in good fun, but heavily pixelated images (among others) will be rejected. 5. Source Material. We ask that you credit your source material at all times. If you used a movie still/screen grab, tip your hat to Warner Bros. in your description. Always credit an artist if you use their work by giving their name and providing us with a link to their gallery. Under no circumstances may you use an artist's work without express permission from said artist. People who repeatedly break this rule will be banned from the Icon Archive. [Top]

	ETIQUETTE As any pureblood would know, etiquette is very important when dealing with others to avoid unpleasantness. We ask that you adhere to the following guidelines to make this a pleasant experience for all the patrons of this site. 1. Giving Credit Where Credit is Due. Please do not alter the filenames to remove the artist or creator's name. Always link back to either the original artist/creator or at the very least the SIA. Artists/creators, take it upon yourselves to mark your icons in a small way if you'd like, like for example adding your initials to a corner of the icon. Please do it in such a way that it doesn't detract from your work! 2. No Hotlinking. We simply cannot afford the extra bandwidth that hotlinking icons would generate. This site is being run out of our own pocket and we'd like for it to live long and prosper! 3. Uploading Others' Work. We ask that you do not upload icons without permission of the original artist/creator. If you see an icon that was uploaded without your permission, you can contact us and we will take it down with no questions asked. 4. Filename Formats. To introduce some degree of standard into our filenames, we've introduced the following format which will be automatically compiled when you upload a file. `sia_<descriptivefilename>[_pairing]_by_<creatorsname>.{gif\|jpg\|png}` For example: severus1.gif says very little about the file, whereas sia_toosexysnape_ssgl_by_whomever.gif gives us a pretty good idea of what we're letting ourselves in for (Gilderoy Lockhart? shudder!) as well as where it is from (the SIA) and who made it (as per Guideline 1). 	FAQ May I use these icons? Of course you may! That is why this archive was created - to share icons! If you do use any of the icons, then please adhere to our Etiquette guidelines. How do I download icons? I can't see a download button anywhere! It is fairly simple to download icons from the SIA. Just click on the icon you want and download box will pop up. Select the folder you want to save your icons to and Bob's your uncle! Please do not change the filename and remember to credit either the SIA or the creator when you use it - as per our guidelines! I uploaded an icon but it hasn't appeared on the Latest Upload list yet. Icons go into a queue for validation. This is done to avoid dozens of the same icon being uploaded, to check if filenames are given in the SIA format and to monitor possible plagiarism. If the icon doesn't appear within a few days of being uploaded, all the moderators have inexplicably died in front of their computers and are unable to validate new icons (well you never know), or there was some kind of problem with the icon and it was rejected. If it was rejected, a note explaining why will be sent to the email address you provided. What is the difference between a Member and a User? Anyone who uses SIA's services is a User. Users can do pretty much everything a Member can - upload icons, download icons, leave comments. The only difference is that Members can log in and do not have to wait for validation - their icons appear immediately. How do I become a Member? If you tickle my fancy, I will issue you an invitation to become a Member. How do I delete or edit my uploads? Users - Contact a moderator, specifying the date of the upload and the name of the file. State the changes you would like them to make and they will get right on it. Please note that any requests from an email address other than the one specified with the icon, will not* be considered.* Members - Clicking on any of your own icons (while logged in) will load a screen from where you can edit or delete the icon in question. Hey! That icon is based on my artwork and I didn't give permission for it to be used! Unfortunately we cannot verify the authenticity of each and every icon uploaded to the SIA. If you come across unauthorised usage of your artwork, please contact us and we will remove the icon immediately. *What do the weird letters in the filenames mean?* We've assigned a two-letter "code" to all Potterverse characters. If an icon features another character, this code will tell you which characters will be in there. Accepted abbreviations for Potterverse characters: AD Albus Dumbledore DM Draco Malfoy GL Gilderoy Lockhart HG Hermione Granger HP Harry Potter JP James Potter LM Lucius Malfoy LP Lily Potter LV Tom Riddle LV Lord Voldemort MM Minerva McGonagall RH Rubeus Hagrid RL Remus Lupin RW Ron Weasley SB Sirius Black SS Severus Snape ZZ Other (not Potterverse character) (like for example Buffy, or Aragorn, or whomever blows your hair back!) Please include the URL to your website (we'd like to check it out first) as well as a banner image (with the maximum dimensions of 200 x 60 pixels) with your email. Bear in mind that we won't be adding all the suggested URLs we recieve. This is great! Will there be an archive featuring Sirius/Remus/Lucius/etc.? Depending on interest - yes, we do plan to create more of these icon archives. So write up petitions, create a public outcry and contact us with your ideas!
